Woodward Dream Cruise Brings Chevrolet’s 100th Birthday Bash to Loyal Customers and Fans
General Motors is celebrating the 100th year of Chevrolet with a 100-day countdown. Fans joined the festivities already as employee’s Chevys were chosen to be showcased at the Woodward Dream Cruise in a couple weeks.
DETROIT, M.I. – Woodward Dream Cruise is one of the events available to fans as General Motors counts down to Chevrolet’s 100th birthday. The countdown began on July 27 and will continue for 100 days as the centennial anniversary gets closer.
Although a countdown and events have been scheduled, there will be no large event the day of Chevrolet’s actual birthday, which has been officially decided to be Nov. 3. General Motors has decided not to create any advertisements as well saying:
“It’s a momentous milestone, but just letting people know that we’ve been around for a hundred years — they kind of already know that,” said U.S. marketing chief Chris Perry to the Detroit Free Press.
The first event to kick off the countdown on July 27 was the 22nd-annual employee car show. All employees were welcome to bring their Chevys to the GM Tech Center to show off their cars. Other cars of different makes were there too along with various car styles such as classic cars, hot rods, performance racers and contemporary vehicles.

The event lasted four hours and ended with GM executives choosing 20 Chevys that will be showcased at the Woodward Dream Cruise, which is being sponsored by Chevrolet on Aug. 20.
Pre-festivities include a Chevy parade on Aug. 18 for fans to see not only the 20 Chevys but also to enjoy other pre-Cruise activities. The parade will begin at 2 p.m., conclude at 4 p.m. and will feature many Chevrolet Volts as they are joining their first Woodward Dream Cruise.
